Martin Zerfas is a Certified Expert in Sustainable Finance and has ten years of experience consulting with financial institutions about responsibly managing their portfolios of meat, dairy and egg supply chain companies. 

 

He has advised ESG ratings and research providers about their alternative protein methodologies, presented to intergovernmental bodies about the risks of intensive livestock production and participated in consultations with multilateral development banks about their farm animal welfare policies. He has also worked with multinational food companies to improve their management of farm animal welfare and collaborated with institutional food service providers to increase their plant-based menu selections. 

 

In 2019, Mr. Zerfas led the creation of the Farm Animals Responsible Minimum Standards, which are recognized or recommended by sustainable finance initiatives such as the UN Principles for Responsible Banking, the UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance and the Climate Bonds Initiative’s Agriculture Criteria for Climate Bonds.
